     A.    Comprehensive testing of reading
             For school-age students and adults

             For students who have not yet entered 1st grade.

              Answers: "Does my child actually read at grade level?" 

      D.   Reading fluency and comprehension
              For students who 'read ok' but read slowly or have to re-read in order to  comprehend.

TREATMENT

Based on the diagnosed needs in decoding, spelling, comprehension, and/or fluency, intervention programs range in intensity from two to 20 hours of therapy per week.  Weekend and evening hours provide flexibility in scheduling

 

FOLLOW-UP

Gains are measured during therapy and used to determine future needs.  Recommendations and assistance are provided for consolidating new skills and developing fluency.

 

PARENT TRAINING

New parent training sessions are designed to maximize the effect of home-study.  The sessions provide parents with specific ways to monitor oral reading and spelling, to facilitate further development of fluency and comprehension, and to assist in school content-course reading.

 

TEACHER TRAINING

The Institute provides training for teachers and therapists in the best documented or new and promising methodologies coming from international and National Institutes of Child and Health (NICHID) research.
