Dear Dr. Bergman,

I hope all is well with you and yours.

Michael is enjoying school- making A’s and B’s.  He brought home a progress report with an “A+” in reading!  He enjoys curling up in front of the fireplace with a book.  He makes a pallet on the floor, his “nest,” and cuddles up.

So, we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you and your kind and consistent efforts to help Michael blossom into a reader. You’ve opened a whole new world for him.

Sending Christmas Blessings.

Dear Dr. Bergman,

Words cannot express our gratitude to you for your personal care and instructional guidance to address Mark’s dyslexia.  Your work and dedication touches both the minds and hearts of your students.  Mark’s confidence and excitement about reading now is very heartwarming to us.

They say we can look back on our entire lives and pick out a handful of events that have had a profound influence on us.  You and your Texas Reading Institute have been one of these life enriching events!

Thanks again for all your help and friendship.  We look forward to our next visit.

Dear Dr. Bergman,

I am sure you do not remember my son, Robert, but he was one of your first students here in Houston.  We were part of the first meeting in the downtown Houston restaurant when you were starting up Texas Reading Institute.  Robert tested at a 1st grade level when he entered 5th grade.

We had tried many other options including home school with licensed teachers teaching him to read every day at home, different methods of instruction, etc…with nothing working.  My family felt that I was putting my money into a “pipe dream,” and the school system fought me when I pulled Robert out of school early a few days a week for instruction.  Within 3 months of taking the instruction at the institute, he was reading at grade level.   He was cooperative with all out other efforts, but your method was the easiest and most enjoyable for him.  Everyone was pleased…and surprised.

He graduated with the Texas Scholar and is now taking college courses while working in the signal corps in the Army.  He is currently stationed in Korea.

I believe wholeheartedly in what you are doing and believe that you are changing family’s lives…one child at a time.  It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about how much you have, single-handedly, changed our family tree.   I have been referring you to friends and family ever since.

Thank you.
