Reading Clinician (part-time)

Description

As a Reading Clinician, you will provide one-on-one reading instruction at our West Houston office (Rogerdale & Richmond). Your work will make a positive, life-long impact on the lives of children with reading difficulties.

Our program is on the cutting edge of the science of reading. Training is provided in phonologically-based explicit reading instruction. This is the instruction we used in a study with the University of Texas and National Institute of Health that demonstrated massive changes in brain function as we developed reading skills in struggling readers.

What you'll do

  • Provide explicit reading instruction to students.

  • Periodically administer Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) reading tests.

  • Work with students to help them improve phonological processing, decoding skills, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

  • Follow prescribed lesson plan for each individual student.

  • Maintain encouraging environment to help students learn and improve.

  • Guide parents through exercises that are to be practiced at home.

What we're looking for

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Must speak English

  • An individual who thrives on helping others and is enthusiastic, open-minded, and empathetic; someone who is capable of independently seeking guidance and information.

  • Ability to follow explicit teaching protocol

  • No teaching experience necessary
